How do I stay informed of troop activities and updates?

Troop 12 has a dedicated email group that is used to provide updates to all scouts and parents.  At this time, there is a single email group used to send all Troop 12 communications.  As a parent, please make sure your email address is included in the Troop 12 mail group so you can receive all troop communications and updates.  See the Email Group page for more details on how to subscribe.

Other great ways to stay informed:
  • Ask your scout.   If they attend the Troop Meetings, they are informed of the latest activities and should be able to let you know what is happening.
  • Come to the beginning of each troop meeting to listen to the announcements.  Everyone is welcome.
  • Come to the Troop 12 Court of Honors.  Other than the emails sent via the troop email group, this is your best means to see what is happening in the troop.
  • Troop 12 has an on-line google Calendar containing dates/time for troop meetings, campouts, fundraising, etc.
  • The troop 12 website has a dedicated page to Troop News.  Latest key pieces of information will be posted to this page.  You can also subscribe to news information from the Troop News page.
What is this thing called a Court Of Honor?

A Court Of Honor (COH) is a troop activity where scouts and their families can come together. It is important for the scout and their family members to be there for all scouts receiving rank advancements, merit badges, and other awards. We hold only four Court of Honor’s a year and although we recognize that conflicts can occur, every effort should be made to attend so that we can give our scouts the attention and recognition they deserve.  Not everyone achieves rank advancements or merit badges at every COH however as a troop it is only fair to support and recognize each others achievements.  It is also important for eagle bound scouts to participate in a Court Of Honor because it does count towards the Second Class Req. 3a and First Class requirement 3.0. It is not a PLC or troop/patrol meeting.

See our Court of Honors page for dates & times.

For more information on COH and Eagle Scout COH please refer to page 39 of the
Troop Manual.
